Candid Brewery in Antigonish Nova Scotia makes wonderful beers and when Bryan approached us to do a collaboration we all knew immediately what we wanted to make. Without hesitation, or discussion, we looked at one another and said in unison...... "BOILERMAKER" !

We dedicate our Boilermaker to the memory of Paul Mellor one of the last Canadian steam engineers on the Great Lakes.

Paul was a man who loved the sea and both Victoria and Gregg feel privileged to have sailed with him.

A Bit About our Label

Victoria met Paul aboard the Montrealais back in 2012. He was ever welcoming when I ventured down into his spotless domain. Below is the original "selfie" that we took together that is the basis for the label.
Six years later when I met Gregg who was captain of a tug working the Hamilton Harbour, there was Paul, working as his "Chief". The image to the right is Paul heading in for an early morning start-up in the spring of 2018.
